How to Use Ghost Tags
If you have blogged with Wordpress before, you are most likely familiar with putting your posts into categories. In Ghost, tags are essentially categories. They allow you group posts and/or pages together using whatever tag you want.
For example, we run a Ghost theme site (allghostthemes.com) that relies heavily on tags. You can see in the picture below, in the bottom left corner, for one of our posts, we have three different tags. The tags are
$0. We use these tags to put this post into these specific groups. Now, if we wanted to (and we do) group all the free posts together, we can do that by using the tag.
So, lets show you how to make a tag. Go ahead and log into your Ghost admin page if you have not, and create a new post. Go ahead and title your post whatever you want. I am going to call my post "Apples".
In the bottom left hand corner you will see a little tag icon. Click in the field to the right of that icon and your cursor will start to blink.
Here is where you can type in the tags that you want. Hit "Enter" after each tag. I am going to add the tags
Now go ahead and publish your post. Now, almost every theme does something different with the tags, but if you are using the default Casper theme, you can see the tags listed on the home page.
Another great thing about tags, is Ghost automatically creates tag pages. Tag pages show every post that has a specific tag. So, now on our blog, if I go to mysite.com/tag/apple I will see every post that has the tag
Thats it for tags! Head to the next section to learn how to create a post with a custom url.
