How to Install Ghost on Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) w/ Homebrew

If you prefer to use Homebrew instead of Macports or installing from source, here are the instructions on how to install the Ghost blogging platform on Mac OS X.

  1. Install Homebrew:
    ruby -e "$(curl -fsSL"
  2. Update Homebrew:
    brew update
    brew outdated
    brew upgrade
  3. Install Node.js:
    brew install nodejs
  4. Download and unzip Ghost into a specific folder

  5. To install Ghost you need to sign into your Ghost account at and get the URL for the latest Ghost source code

    cd /path/to/ghost/folder
    sudo npm install
    sudo npm start
  6. Go to http://localhost:2368/ghost/
